My background
I am an experienced instructor. I taught for seven years for the West Contra Costa School district and after moving to the Auburn area taught for the Auburn High School District. I have taken that work experience with me into my art career and have been teaching Fiber/Textile Art classes for the last ten years. I love sharing my experience with others and seeing the beautiful work they create.
Workshops at For the Love of Art Gallery
This month For the Love of Art Gallery moved to a new bigger space. If you haven’t checked it out, please do. It’s a beautiful gallery with ample space to appreciate each artists work giving you time and room to enjoy. The new address is 839 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA right in the heart of Downtown.
With the larger space we now have room for workshops!! I will be offering three in the coming months.
Felted Flowers: Create Beautiful wool felted flowers! One with a stem and one without for use as a pin, barrette or? You will go home with at least two flowers and the knowledge and tools to make more. This is such a fun creative class!
November 16th 10-12:30 $45.00 + $10 material fee to instructor.
Felted Soap: These make wonderful gifts! You will go home with 4 completed soaps and the knowledge and tools to do more.
November 19th 10-12:30 $45.00 + $10 material fee to instructor.
Felted Vessels: In this three hour workshop you will learn to wet felt a three D vessel! These can be whimsical, useful, decorative or ? You will learn the wet felting technique using a resist and go home with two vessels plus the tools and knowledge to make more!
December 11th 2-5 pm $55.00 + $10 material fee to instructor.

In this mini workshop Fiber Artist Terry Shearn will work with you to create a variety of beautiful wool wet felted flowers. We will make at least one with a stem and one without. These can be used as embellishments for hat, broaches, in a felt flower arrangement… Guaranteed to get your imagination running!

Botanical Printing
Introduction to Botanical Printing and Dyeing
One day workshop (8 hours)
Can combine with other techniques for a two day or more workshop.
In this workshop we will explore the exciting art of Botanical Printing and Dyeing on Protein Fibers.
Throughout the workshop we will discuss mordants, fabrics and techniques. We will use two different methods and students will create a botanically printed silk scarf and table mats on wool. There are so many ways to incorporate botanical dyeing into your artwork, we will discuss this as well. Bring your imagination!
Combining Botanical Printing & Acid Dye
One day Workshop (6+ hours)
This method combines botanical printing with acid dyeing. This method is also called medium printing. Some plants produce color, some can create lovely reliefs. Come explore the possibilities!
Each student will create two silk scarves using this method.
While the scarves are processing we will break for lunch.

Beginning Pine Needle Basket Workshoprkshop
Includes all material & instruction sheet
Come learn to create a pine needle basket in the beautiful town of Dutch Flat or at your location.
We will be creating a small basket.
You will learn what to collect when collecting pine needles, how to prepare, how to make a coiled pine needle basket, how to finish and protect your creation.
